My Lithuanian grandmother made these crazy colored afghans when I was a child. As an adult, I remembered thinking they were so ‘wacky’ in coloration. As a child I knew the color made no sense as a whole. I began painting as experiment to see if I could recreate a sensory view of what it felt like be a child looking at her crazy color choices.
